Je Suis Charlie

I thought it would be different this time. This wasn't Major Hassan standing on top of a desk, blasting American soldiers. This wasn't hijackers flying airplanes into buildings, symbols of American economic, military and political power. Those and other attacks have been twisted by Islamist apologists into acts that are somehow justified by our so-called imperialism.

This was an attack by the sword of Islam, on the pen, and on those who wield ideas.

But willful ignorance is nonetheless on display by the fellow travelers of those slaughtered today. Miriam Krule at Slate Magazine said that "while both the motive and the identity of the perpetrators are still unknown..." They were shouting "Allahu Akbar" and "We have avenged the Prophet." The identity of the butchers may have yet to be confirmed, but anyone with even the slightest discernment can identify the motive. All I needed to determine motive, is to learn who was murdered.

The cartoonists and editor of Charlie Hebdo were murdered today. Charlie Hebdo has published inflammatory cartoons featuring the Pope, and Jews, but that's not what set off the bloodthirsty rage of the muhajid. It was a series of cartoons featuring the pedophile savage Mohammed, who has commanded his followers to spread his word by the sword.

Some people get it. Egypt is the largest Arab country, and their President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, made a New Year's speech calling for a religious revolution. He said, "the Islamic world is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost. And it is being lost by our own hands."

Even Secretary of State John Kerry gets it. He said today's atrocity was part of "a larger confrontation, not between civilizations, but between civilization itself and those who are opposed to a civilized world."
